Tesco UK Purchases eBook Platform Mobcast



In an interesting development by Tesco particularly on e-books publishing market the company has acquired Mobcast. This news follows on the recent developments where Amazon and Barnes & Noble are partnering to offer content and devices to the UK and Europe market.

It was stated by Tesco, that the main benefit of acquiring Mobcast apart from its huge content availability of around 130,000 books, is that Tesco will own a dedicated ebook distribution platform.

Furthermore, stated by Michael Comish of Tesco Digital Entertainment: “We want our customers to have the widest choice in digital entertainment. We are already one of the UK’s largest booksellers and Mobcast will help us offer even more choice for the large and growing number of customers who want to buy and enjoy books on their digital devices whenever and wherever they want”.
